There has been many articles and blog post surrounding mental health and support during COVID 19. Your mental health should not be the only thing you think about during this time. Your physical health should also be looked after.

The COVID-19 pandemic means that many of us are staying at home and doing less in terms of social interactions and exercise. This can have a negative effect on your physical and mental health. 

So how can we change this and what can you do to stay healthy – both in mind and body:

  • Maintaining physical activity, and doing it safely, is especially important during these times. Get out and get some fresh air every day. A change of scenery and sunshine can help with you with your mood and even a small walk can help if you are feeling sluggish.
  • Try yoga, meditation or mindfulness to help with your mental load
  • Do not delay speaking to or seeing your GP if you have a medical condition. Delays in treatment can be detrimental. Many are offering telehealth options and face to face consults where safe to do so. Medical care is one of options for essential reasons to leave your house during lock down.
  • Take your prescription medication as recommended by your doctor
  • Be mindful of exposure to information through stories, traditional and social media. It can be helpful to take a break from the 24-hour news cycle.
  • Do things that make you feel physically and emotionally safe, and be with those who are helpful to your wellbeing
